What’s In Your Lunch Box?
The infamous lunch box has been a workplace and/or school staple for as long as you can remember. In grade school, you can probably remember touting around your lunch box full of goodies. But today, it’s hard to munch on those same goodies without it impacting your pocketbook and waistline. Here are a few things you can add to your lunch box that are not only good and reasonably priced, but also healthy.
Protein Please
We all know that protein is needed to build and repair muscles, so you can’t skip this must-have. Add food items like canned fish, boiled eggs, tempeh, or chicken for your source of protein. The chicken shawarma at Zait Bistro is a tasty choice too!
Eat Your Veggies
The famous line that parents have been saying to their children for years still rings true for adults. Vegetables are chocked full of the vitamins, fibers, minerals, and antioxidants we need to thrive. Cut up some carrots and dip them in hummus for a healthy and yummy treat.
You Mustn’t Forget Fruit
Just like vegetables, fruits include much of the good stuff we need to feel energized and refreshed. Chopped apples or melons, a handful of grapes, or one banana could do the trick!
Skip the White Bread and Get Whole Grain
If you’re looking for something with plenty of B vitamins and high in fiber, then look no further. Whole wheat bread (or quinoa if you have a gluten allergy) is much better than the highly processed additives and flour in white bread. Your gut will thank you.
What’s In Your Lunch Box Matters
If you have junk in your lunch box then you’ll inevitably feel like junk the rest of the day. A satisfying meal isn’t one that makes you feel heavy and tired. It’s supposed to give you the energy to thrive. Make the right choice when packing your lunch box!
